"Of all the paths you take in life, make sure a few of them are dirt." -John Muir
In Episode 7, we head to Hill City, South Dakota! We convoyed up with family and made some interesting stops along the way...
Many gas stations,
Wall Drug after seeing about 2,000 billboards,
and the Badlands.
We arrived later in the day on Saturday and opted to stay in a campground for the night rather than try to scout out a dispersed camping sight before dark. We took our first Black Hills ride at dusk and were blown away by the amount of wild life we found. A herd of elk and deer at almost every turn.
The next morning, our goal was finding a dispersed camping spot big enough for 4 motor homes before our 11 am check out time. There were tons of camp grounds all around Hill City, but we really didn't see anyone dispersed camping. We checked out some coordinates from other campers on Google and finally (with minutes to spare) found a spot that would meet the needs of our large group. For the first few nights, we would be camping with our family friends Fred and Michelle and would be joined by the more family members mid-week.
With our camp ground out of the way, we were ready to get out and explore some trails! Every trail and road we took lead to something amazing. Though Hill City and the camp grounds we drove by were relatively crowded, we had the trails to ourselves with plenty of rocks and trees to explore.
